The final day of this trip! At this point, we’re just ready to make it home and see our cats again. This was probably the most boring day of the trip in terms of what we had planned, but also the most exciting since we were really looking forward to just getting back to the house. After waking up and getting breakfast with my sister, Kristie and I drove to my parent’s house in Honesdale, PA to meet them for lunch. Lunch was a pretty standard affair at Fiesta on Main, no complaints. Since we still wanted this day to be a bit in tune with the rest of the trip, we went to the Irving Cliff Brewery which was new since the last time I visited my parents. I feel bad saying it, but this was the worst beer I’ve had on the trip. It suffered from off flavors galore, but that’s almost expected with these brand new breweries. I hope they work out the kinks in the future.
We didn’t stay much longer than that since we were itching to get home. The funny thing about the drive home on 81 is that we hit the worst traffic of the entire trip. This is a route I’ve taken countless times over the past 10 years without any traffic, and now the one time I really want to get home, we hit bumper to bumper gridlock. This normally one hour fifteen minute drive ended up taking us nearly double that. We were so very grateful to get through it and see that Binghamton University/Vestal Road sign which signaled we made it home. We made a quick detour the Carroll’s house, as they were kind enough to look after our cats Coheed and Cambria while we were gone. It was crazy 72 days, but the family was finally all home together.
